Summary:

Coral reefs in Karimunjawa Marine National Park (MPA) are highly threatened by destructive fisheries and tourism activities and temperature rise due to global environmental changes. This project aims to deliver awareness and education to fishermen, boat operators and tourists in the MPA. Floating buoys, sign boards and books will be distributed, and meetings with the stake-holders will be performed as awareness raising activities to increase people’s knowledge on MPA locations and climate change impacts on MPAs. This will help tourists to understand their impact on MPAs and also help the fisherman acknowledge the MPA location and learn innovative adaptation measures which helps conserve this coral reef ecosystem.
