Winners of the 2019 Conservation Team Awards.

We received an impressive number of applications from Latin America and the Caribbean and, as usual, a great deal of deliberation was required before our selection panel was able to finalise the list of successful applications. CLP is delighted to grant three awards this year.

Two of the projects, funded by Arcadia – a charitable fund of Lisbet Rausing and Peter Baldwin, focus on sharks species in the waters off northern Peru and the Miskitos Cays of Honduras. One project, funded in collaboration with the Global Trees Campaign aims to supporting the conservation of greenheart, which is one of Guyana’s most economically important timber species. Future Conservationist Awards

For the third year, CLP is collaborating with BirdLife International on their Young Conservation Leaders (YCL) Awards funded by the British Birdfair and Aage V. Jensen Foundation. Winners of these awards, which aim to develop young leaders to protect local Important Bird Areas, will be announced in the near future.

CLP would like to offer congratulations to all of the awarded teams! One member from each CLP and YCL team will be invited to attend the CLP International Training Course in Brazil later this year. This two-week course is a fantastic opportunity for conservationists from around the world to receive training in high-priority topics and create a peer-to-peer network. Winning a CLP award also gives a team access to the CLP alumni network which offers more opportunities for funding, training and learning exchanges.

Individual summaries of each project can also be reviewed under Supported Projects.
