SUPPORTED PROJECTS

Bat count Philippines

Flying-foxes are a conservation priority. They are not only endangered but are also important ecologically, valued by local communities, and may serve as umbrella species and charismatic flagships for conservation. Our project is developing baseline population information, building managers’ capacity through training, and encouraging greater community awareness about flying-fox conservation needs. We aim to expand our community-based project to the national level by collaborating with the national government, creating a website for information dissemination, and encouraging greater media coverage. We also aim to take our successes to the international level with a SE Asia regional workshop.
