Biodiversity surveys, community conservation, and socio-cultural activities in Diamer District

The activities of the intern will focus on scientific biodiversity surveys (research), community conservation and socio-cultural activities. Research targets -to expand our knowledge of the unique biodiversity in Diamer District, collect comprehensive information on the presence/absence and to some extent abundance of wild mammals and birds in the district, and collect socio-economic, demographic and cultural information on the district population. Conservation targets - in collaboration with a field mentor, strengthen on-going conservation activities such as sensitization of local communities to natural resource preservation, link grass-roots/regional institutions with government departments and other partners, and study the possibility of developing alternative options for livelihood through sustainable management of natural resources.  Socio-cultural activities -to collaboratively promote the importance for all local communities to share and manage cooperatively their natural environment and resources.
