Environmental planning and education in Cerro Verde, the first coastal marine protected area in Uruguay

This proposal seeks to consolidate the work of diverse organizations in the area, strengthening and impelling the implementation and the participatory management on the first Coastal-Marine Protected Area in Cerro Verde, Uruguay. With the support of these organizations, material will be brought together to create a document containing the current situation on the conservation and management of the natural resources of the area. A range of workshops and courses will be led to train local actors in ecological and conservation issues and we also plan to create a visitor centre to inform Uruguayans about the existence of the protected area. Our intention is to motivate, and gain the full commitment of adults and children to preserve the area's natural resources.
