Community-based wildlife management in the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Community Reserve, Peru

The intern will receive training in methods and techniques used for the monitoring of key indicators and landscape species. Under the guidance of her supervisor, the intern will attend advanced WCS field courses, and will design an applied research project, collect field data, and analyze the data to finally write a paper. She will also receive training in the use of tools for working with local communities to implement community-based wildlife management plans, including the implementation of the peccary pelt certification program in the Tamshiyacu-Tahuayo Community Reserve.  The intern will assist staff with information gathering and analysis. Finally, the intern will join the adaptive management project in the Peruvian part of the Greater Madidi-Tambopata Landscape for 2 weeks.
