Endangered waterbirds conservation and their habitat management in Liaohe Delta Wetland, China

The team will build upon a national project promoting the sustainable development of deltaic wetlands around the Bohai Sea by working in close collaboration with local government and Shuangtaihekou reserve staff. Ornithological and vegetation surveys will be made during both the breeding and migratory seasons to identify endangered bird species populations and habitat requirements. An assessment of the factors limiting the ecological capacity of the reserve and surrounding areas will be used to advocate reserve boundary and management changes. Team members will actively participate in public educational activities and set up a website, it is hoped that by raising the profile of the site the Chinese Ecological Research Network can be involved in long term monitoring of the reserve.
