In previous years, CLP alumni that have received both Future Conservationist Awards and Follow-up Awards have been able to apply for our top Conservation Leadership Award.
The Conservation Leadership Award involved a grant of up to $50,000. This was awarded to teams leading complex conservation projects that connected previous work supported by CLP, and typically focusing on creating enduring systems to ensure conservation outcomes in the long-term (for example, forming a new, self-supporting NGO).
Award-winners have been high potential, early- to mid-career conservationists, who through training and experience are able to build the capacity of others. Projects have needed to be sustainable and effective, increasing the viability of threatened populations and influencing national policy.
