December 01, 2013 Kate Stokes was a remarkable and talented young conservationist who, in the four years she worked as CLP Programme Officer, demonstrated all of qualities that epitomise CLP leaders: she was hard-working, fun to be with, cared deeply for others, and was passionate and committed to biodiversity conservation. When Kate tragically died in 2006, her family set up the Kate Stokes Memorial Trust so that, in her memory, a US$5,000 award could be granted annually to an exceptional team of CLP alumni.

April 05, 2013 The Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) is happy to announce this year’s Conservation Award winners. Twenty-eight exceptional projects conserving a diverse array of globally threatened species have been granted a total of $470,000. Among these winners, we have five new pins to add to the CLP map of countries which have received support: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Cape Verde, Moldova and Samoa.

March 19, 2013 The Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP) has recently completed a project working with nine other organizations to design and develop teaching materials which will enable early- to mid-career conservationists to be trained in, and better understand the linkages between biodiversity conservation, ecosystem services and climate change.

Bolitoglossa leandrae is a relatively small salamander (its body length is roughly the same as the diameter of a 50p or a Quarter coin) with a narrow head and long, slender tail. Males are dark brown with thin yellow stripes along the length of the body and females are reddish brown.

We are delighted to see the incredible work of our alumni recognised in BBC One's Asia series! 🐯 This seven-part series is dedicated to revealing Asia's most remarkable landscapes and animals, as well as conservation efforts across the continent, including the dedicated work of our alumni. 👉 The 7th and last episode, "Saving Asia", features 2023 CLP award-winners at The Mobula Project Indonesia - including 2023 CLP trainee Irianies Gozali - and 2022 award-winner Kumar Paudel at Greenhood Nepal . The episode highlights the efforts of these rising conservation leaders to prevent by-catch of threatened devil rays in Indonesia and the illegal wildlife trade in Nepal. 🗣️ Speaking about this fantastic recognition, Kumar said: "During my MPhil in Cambridge [UK], our classes were held in DAB—The David Attenborough Building. The Fonseca Species Conservation Fund is now accepting proposals from early-career conservationists (aged 35 years or younger) in the Americas region. ⏰ Application deadline: 30 March, 2025 ℹ️ Apply for grants of up to $25,000 to support conservation efforts for five threatened species groups — amphibians, freshwater fish, primates, small mammals, tortoises and freshwater turtles — in urgent need of intervention and conservation action. This fund was established in 2024 by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and Re:wild to honour the passion of the late Gustavo Fonseca, long-standing GEF director of programs, for species conservation and building capacity of the next generation of conservationists.
