Support Officer for the Galera San Francisco Marine Reserve, Ecuador

Ana Belén Yánez

The intern will support the implementation of some areas of the recently approved Management Plan (MP) for the Galera San Francisco Marine Reserve (GSFMR), working as a support officer for Fauna & Flora activities, including those implemented by partners funded by Fauna & Flora in the area (Fundacion Futuro Latinoamericano –FFLA-, Instituto NAZCA de Investigaciones Marinas). The intern will also provide support to the Association for the Development  of Galera San Francisco (ADGSF), an organization composed of historic community leaders that works towards improving the wellbeing of the reserve’s local communities and the conservation and rational use of its natural resources.  Fauna & Flora and FFLA supported the strengthening of this organization and now they are recognized as a strong player in the area. They are part of the management committee of GSFMR, so it is important that they take advantage of the participation in this Committee so management structures, decisions and planned activities are locally appropriate.
