Supported by a 2022 CLP Follow-Up Award, this project helped reactivate the National Shark Working Group in Honduras, bringing together government institutions, researchers, and NGOs to coordinate conservation action.

Technical workshops trained fisheries officers and prosecutors of illegal trade in species identification, monitoring methods, and legal frameworks to improve enforcement against illegal shark trade. Market surveys of shark and ray products also helped to better understand trade dynamics and inform policy decisions.
Outreach campaigns engaged fishers, community leaders, and students through workshops, school programmes, and awareness activities aimed at reducing shark consumption and promoting sustainable fishing practices.
