We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2019 Conservation Leadership Programme Team Awards! This year’s award-winning projects will take place in three very different habitats in Latin America: from the Pacific ocean to the Caribbean, and in the tropical forests of Guyana.
In Tumbes, northern Peru, a team of young leaders will identify key habitat that is important in the life cycle of smooth hammerhead sharks and gain knowledge on seasonal movement patterns through the use of acoustic tags and receivers.
Off the Caribbean coast of Honduras, a team will collect much-needed data on abundance, distribution and density of several sharks including great hammerhead sharks, to support their conservation.
And in Guyana, a team will be supporting the conservation of the greenheart tree, which is one of Guyana’s most economically important timber species.
