Towards the conservation of Lago Fontana birds in Patagonia, Argentina

This project will introduce the first year round bird survey of the basin. It will asses the diversity, distribution, use of habitat and abundance of bird communities. These activities will be carried out not only by University but also by high school local students, in order to develop interpretative and tourism guiding skills, focused in bird watching. As this project is part of a major conservation programme, these results will contribute on one hand with the whole conservation and management guidelines to be established, and on the other hand showing new sustainable alternative economic activities related to the interpretation of wild bird communities.
