Ecological studies and conservation status assessment of tiger in Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve, Yunnan Province, China

Xishuangbanna Nature Reserve on the border with Myanmar and Laos hold the last promise for the survival of Indochinese tigers in China and conservation action is urgently needed after the first photo of tiger spotted confirmed tiger ever exist in the region.

Through a partnership with government, communities, NGOs, and university, this project will conduct a systematic survey in distinctive parts of the reserves to document the status of tigers, their habitats and prey base. It will provide the scientific basis and training to draw further attention and funds to this area, which will be an important first step towards building a stronghold for last wild Indochinese tigers in southwest China
