Ethnobotany in Brava Island, Cape Verde: Conservation and Valorisation of Traditional Knowledge

Diva Burgo
The interaction between humans and the botanical resources offered by nature dates back to time immemorial and covers a wide range of purposes, including medicinal use, decoration, construction etc.
The core objective of the proposed project is to document and analyse the traditional uses of endemic plants by local communities, thus emphasizing the crucial link between cultural practices and biodiversity conservation. By engaging with local communities, conducting interviews, and participating in field studies, the project will produce comprehensive data on traditional medicinal practices and harvesting techniques. This project will also foster relationships of trust and collaboration with the communities involved.
