Although the terrestrial ecology of the Galapagos Islands is well-known, little work has been done on the off-shore marine environment. Ten subtidal sites were surveyed by divers to establish quantitative baseline data on the marine habitats and species present. As a result of these surveys the team has been able to provide site specific practical conservation recommendations for the long term management of vulnerable sections of the Galapagos marine environment.
