Priority objectives under the ‘species’ and ‘sites’ components of BirdLife’s 2009-2012 European Programme
Tsovinar Hovhannisyan
The intern will work closely with the European Science and Data Manager to help meet several priority objectives under the ‘species’ and ‘sites’ components of BirdLife’s 2009-2012 European Programme. In particular, she will help to update the Secretariat’s information about Europe’s most threatened species, thereby informing changes to the IUCN Red List, and help to deliver a suite of tools needed to advance the Important Bird Area (IBA) Programme in Europe, including revised thresholds and prioritisation methods. Her work programme will expose her to key processes, extend her knowledge and understanding of how BirdLife works, and develop skills that will benefit her and ASPB. By working within the European Division, but based at the Global Secretariat, she will gain first hand experience of how data collected locally and collated nationally by BirdLife Partners like ASPB, flow up to the regional level, and are then used globally, thereby adding value.
