A desk-based review of illegal killing and capture of birds in sub-Saharan Africa
Consolata Gitau
The illegal killing, capture and trading of birds (IKB) is one of the threats faced by migratory birds in the African-Eurasian Flyway region. BirdLife International is actively addressing this problem through its Flyways programme, but also drawing from other conservation programmes. As part of addressing the IKB challenge, BirdLife has and is undertaking various measures ranging from situation analyses to promoting action on the ground and taking part in international policy processes, joining other stakeholders to find lasting solutions.
The internship will support a desk-based review of the IKB threat as a step towards a full scientific review of the issue in sub-Saharan Africa.
