Status and ecology of the Sokoke pipit in Zaraninge Forest, Tanzania
Robert Modest Byamungu
Our study will focus on the endangered bird species, Sokoke pipit, which has a very small range, and its habitat is declining owing to clearance for cultivation, intensive charcoal production and logging. Our aim is to generate information relevant for conservation of the Sokoke pipit in Zaraninge forest. We will collect data for density estimation using distance sampling techniques, alongside recording habitat data. We will also collect data regarding familiarity of species among surrounding local communities, which will be followed by awareness-raising on missing knowledge. Output will be one-stop information portal relevant to foster attainment of high level protection of study species.
