Mongolia has seen rapid social, economic and environmental change over the past decade. In order to reverse Mongolian wildlife population declines, robust monitoring is needed to define the scope and severity of the problem. This monitoring project implements camera trapping at different sites and habitat types across Mongolia in order to provide new information on the diversity of wildlife in Mongolia and the distribution, ecology and behavior of many poorly known species. Over multiple years, this effort results in measures of trends in biodiversity of some birds and medium to large mammals. Additional monitoring techniques augment biodiversity data.
