🦇 two of the largest bat colonies in Europe are found in Romania, with roughly 70,000 bats in each!

🦇 Bats are both incredibly important and also one of the most misunderstood species in the world.

🦇Early data shows that bats are breeding in summer in Serbia, then roosting and hibernating in Romania during the winter.

🦇Bat colonies can be regularly disturbed, intentionally and unintentionally, on both sides of the border.

🦇 CLP has been supporting this project as it develops since 2014.

Recently our Research Officer, Thatayaone Motsentwa, and Community Outreach and Education Coordinator, Walona Sehularo, attended a Conservation Management and Leadership workshop held by Conservation Leadership Programme in South Africa. They came back inspired, motivated and equipped with skills and knowledge they will use in pushing forward elephant conservation in Botswana”.

South Rupununi Conservation Society | "Where in the world is Asaph? Rwanda in Africa!

Last month Asaph travelled more than 10,000km from Katoonarib Village in the Rupununi to the beautiful country of Rwanda to attend the Conservation Management and Leadership Course that is being hosted by the @clpawards. As part of the course, Asaph has built his capacity to manage and design conservation projects, implement methodologies and raise funds for new projects. He will now bring this knowledge and skills back to share with the other members of SRCS.

Other highlights of the trip include giving a forro performance to the other participants of the course and seeing the Golden Monkeys at the Volcanoes National Park.

A massive thank you to the @clpawards for giving Asaph this amazing opportunity and for supporting our Red Siskin project”.

“From this unique experience I didn't just take learning, I took more love for conservation and the beautiful people I finally got to meet personally.”

Sofía Perrone, from Argentina, took part in our Conservation Leadership training in South Africa last month, she is particularly passionate about amphibians and encouraging women to participate in conservation.
